What is a Multicultural Community Advancement Officer?

A Multicultural Community Advancement Officer is a person who "employs the concept of 'multicultural coexistence' to contribute to community revitalization through the development of social systems and the generation of new industrial activity, ensuring that people of diverse ethnic backgrounds can all enjoy a high quality of life in the local community." Accreditation is granted by the Gunma Prefectural Government after completion of all three courses in the program.

The contents of the educational program

The curriculum of the Multicultural Community Advancement Officer training program has been designed for systematic development of the required skills, and class content is equivalent to that offered at university level. Each course involves incremental learning consisting of at least 30 hours of basic education, 30 hours of practical education, and 10 hours of independent research—a total of at least 70 hours per academic year. The program also makes use of a course certification system.
